Belgian artist Sammy Slabbinck really nails the art of creating dynamic collage prints, combining vintage photographs with contemporary compositional styles.
Inspired by the graphics and imagery of the 1950s to 1970s, he has been collecting vintage magazines & books for a long time... even before he started cutting them up. "The images are cut up into pieces and redistributed, playing with exaggeration and proportions. Other times, the images are placed in a reverse context, juxtaposing modern ideals with traditional states of mind."
Sammy knows how to cath my attention with his surreal compositions. I even feel kind of happily mesmerized by his imaginery world collages! Blown away by seeing all this goodness? Time to travel then... Sammy is having his firt exposition in Bruges (Belgium) at gallery Pinsart.
