The Chiaozza Chapel, installed within Cooler Gallery, is an intimate space celebrating colour, light and form. Five painted wooden wall works fill the 6- by 7-foot gallery. The formal compositions reference natural and metaphysical concepts such as horizons, atmosphere, time, landscape, and ritual. Repetitive motifs such as grids, diagonals, and arcs augment the visual vibration of the room.

In Chiaozza’s work, color is a vessel for experience. Matte opaque pigment blurs the presence of the sculpture’s surface and its surroundings. Light bounces off the painted wooden planks, creating reflected chambers of color that animate the air around and within each piece.

Hell’O Monsters! One groovy Belgian art collective I have discovered through my work as a tailor at Café Costume.

Monsters at work: Jerôme Meynen, François Dieltiens and Antoine Detaille. They have recently made some great & limited linings collaboration with Café Costume… but let’s say they’re thruly known for their unique graphic vocabulary. They left behind wall art, graffiti letters and spray paint in favour of paper, characters, ink drawings and paint, moving on to sculpture, installations and wall drawing.

Their individual styles allows them to create an imaginary universe occupied by hybrid characters such as monsters with multiple eyes, mutated animals,… The group’s creations – despite their colorful and happy look – are in fact caustic commentaries on the adult world, human nature and society.

Time to discover which monster you’ll like the best whilst choosing your unique Café Costume lining or at their “Deaf, Dumb and Blind” exposition at Alice Gallery, Brussels.

Fashion illustrator Christina K. sets up striking and sightfull illustrations. A creative mind in general. Her work has been exhibited all over the world and is on permanent exhibition at Cosh galleries in London.

I discovered Christina Koutsospyrou‘s work and quickly fell in love with her contemporary,  and amazingly eye-catching detailed drawings. All hand drawn! She uses a pen, paper and a lot of inspiration images. The detail in the illustrations comes with love, time and interest in what she draws.

Christina sees herself as a black and white person but of course her work is not just breathing that atmosphere. She also loves pale colours, anything that soothes the eye… influences of coral, gold, black, beige and grey, dark blue, caramel and burgundy are to be seen in her illustrations.

She has built a client list full of goodness… Saatchi & Saatchi, Elle, Chanel, La Perla, Ted Baker, Esquire, Vogue, Levi’s, Burton Snowboards,… and more!

CONFETTISYSTEM is about gorgeous colour explosions! Happiness for the eyes.

Decoration designers Julie Ho and Nicholas Andersen are the creative duo behind these glimmery eye-catchers. CONFETTISYSTEM transforms simple materials such as tissue paper, cardboard, and silk into interactive objects. Shiny silver, sparkle golden touches, pastels,… colours seem to be their best friends. No doubts about colour matching skills and their absolute wisdom to evoke a sense of nostalgia and pretty party fun.

Julie and Nicholas seem to conquer quite some hearts with their playfull installations. They once created over 900 paper flowers for Lanvin! Different effords are made for Opening Ceremony, United Bamboo as well as for Beyonce, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Beach House,…

Goodness for the happy heart, that is CONFETTISYSTEM!

Belgian artist Sammy Slabbinck really nails the art of creating dynamic collage prints, combining vintage photographs with contemporary compositional styles.

Inspired by the graphics and imagery of the 1950s to 1970s, he has been collecting vintage magazines & books for a long time… even before he started cutting them up. “The images are cut up into pieces and redistributed, playing with exaggeration and proportions. Other times, the images are placed in a reverse context, juxtaposing modern ideals with traditional states of mind.”

Sammy knows how to cath my attention with his surreal compositions. I even feel kind of happily mesmerized by his imaginery world collages! Blown away by seeing all this goodness? Time to travel then… Sammy is having his firt exposition in Bruges (Belgium) at gallery Pinsart.
